For homeowners

Know your home without digging up paperwork

What needs doing this season, and what is about to wear out? Start with your address. Joysts looks up what public records say about your home and your area, then builds an upkeep plan from there. Each label photo or document you add makes it more exact.

What you get from your address and one photo

  • An upkeep plan for your home

Tasks start from your area’s risks and grow with every system you add, each one due in the right month. A weekly email digest is on by default, and you can turn it off.

  • Point your phone at the water heater

Take a photo of its label. Joysts reads the brand, model and serial number. For brands whose serial number encodes the build date, it works out the unit’s age.

  • Log work you’ve already done

New furnace in 2018? Roof in 2012? Add it from the Maintenance page, even with just a year. It is labelled as entered by you, and the system’s age comes from your date.

  • Risks for your area

Your EPA radon zone, FEMA flood zone, how cold your winters get (freeze risk for pipes) and other climate risks for your location, each with its source named.

  • Recall check

Once Joysts knows a system’s brand, it checks CPSC recall notices and shows any possible match, with how to compare your model number. It never says your unit is recalled.

  • County records and weather alerts

Year built, size, beds and baths, and the tax assessment from public records, plus permit history where your county publishes it. If a record is wrong, correct it, and your value is kept beside the public one. Active National Weather Service alerts for your address show in the app.

Example only: a made-up home, to show the kind of thing you see. What Joysts finds depends on your address and on what public records cover there.

Joysts is not an inspection. Public records can be missing or out of date, and some areas publish no permit data. Where a source has nothing, Joysts says so instead of guessing.
